With FAR, multi-award-winning British choreographer Wayne McGregor takes a particular creative journey, inspired by the controversial Age of Enlightenment and by 18th-century French philosopher Diderot’s very first set of encyclopedia. The resulting choreography is bold, immediate, lush in detail, and McGregor’s link to cognitive research adds a cerebral dimension where neural-pathways inform a spectacular scenic backdrop.
Since its 2010 premiere, FAR
has picked up accolades for McGregor’s ever-insightful vision. McGregor is renowned for his
physicality-testing choreography and collaborations across dance,
film, music, visual art, technology and science. He is the Artistic
Director of Wayne McGregor | Random Dance
, Resident Company
at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London and a Resident Choreographer
of The Royal Ballet. In January 2011, McGregor was awarded a CBE
(Commander of the Order of the British Empire).
