Tongo Eisen Martin performing poetry live on stage

Celebrate National Poetry Month

It’s National Poetry Month and we’re thrilled to invite you to the final chapter of our Poetry Uncut series at The Nimoy on April 6! Hosted by Grammy award-winning spoken-word artist J. Ivy, with special performances by San Francisco poet laureate Tongo Eisen Martin, the dynamic talents of Get Lit and Emmy Award-Winning DJ Niéna Drake.

It all began with Poetry Uncut: Part I, The Nimoy’s inaugural show in September 2023, where J. Ivy and his ensemble lit up the stage with the help of singer Tarrey Torae. Poetry Uncut: Part II and Part III followed in February 2024. Each evening featured a dizzying amount of talent, such as legendary poet and activist Ursula Rucker, Abiodun Oyewole, founding member of the iconic Last Poets, L.A.'s own Def Sound, New Orleans native Sunni Patterson and Emmy Award-winning DJ Niéena Drake who will return to score the evening for Last Call. Also returning are inspiring young poets from Get Lit, a Los Angeles based non-profit whose mission is to harness the power of the spoken word to increase literacy, empower youth, and energize communities through poetry and visual media.

This final installment promises to be a night of unparalleled poetic brilliance hosted by our resident poet, J. Ivy. Prepare to be enraptured by the captivating verses of San Francisco poet laureate, educator and activist Tongo Eisen Martin.

Don’t forget to join us in the lobby before the show and contribute to our “Poetry Wall” and get a free poem or write one to give as a gift.
