Do you know India Carney

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Carney is not only an accomplished American singer, songwriter, vocal arranger, vocal coach and actress but also a former Bruin and a YoungArts award winner. Her rise to prominence began with a dazzling debut on NBC's The Voice during the show’s eighth season, where she captivated audiences and celebrity judges alike, securing her place as a Top 5 Artist and a fan favorite. Her vocal prowess has graced stages alongside chart-topping artists like Katy Perry, Dua Lipa, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga and more.

In partnership with YoungArts, CAP UCLA is proud to present India Carney in a celebration of young, local artists titled Riding the Rollercoaster: An Artist’s Life in Los Angeles. The two night event highlights Carney and her band as well as YoungArts alumni chosen by Carney through an open audition.

“I decided to push myself to direct a special performance featuring some amazing YoungArts alumni who are making it in Los Angeles.”

The February 15 performance highlights Carney and her band; February 16 Carney hosts five YoungArts alumni: D’Angelo Lacy (singer), Ashley Long (actor), Scarlet Lastrapes (singer), Elena Pinderhughes (singer / flutist) and Kyreeana Breelin Alexander (tap dancer).

“On February 16th, I have the honor of presenting a performance I will have directed” Carney tells CAP UCLA. “Through song, dance and text, they will share their unique journeys as artists ambitious to succeed in one of our country's most competitive cities: Los Angeles.”
