Ethnomusicologist Dr. Craig Woodson takes students on a global journey to learn about drumming from many cultures, including the drum set, an African talking drum, a European friction drum, a Middle Eastern goblet drum, and some new inventions.
Dr. Woodson will share stories from his travels and experiences over the past 45 years as a drummer, student, researcher and instructor as he explores how drums date to the early days of human civilization, the scientific principles of percussion instruments and the great joy of being a drummer.
Each student will make, play and take home a simple percussion instrument at this hands-on program.
LIMITED CAPACITY. Maximum attendance is 150 students.
