Design for Sharing

Design for Sharing is our free K-12 arts-education program. For more than 40 years DFS has been making the performing arts at UCLA an accessible and inspirational part of children’s lives.

DFS provides interactive and educational experiences for more than 16,000 students each year by creating opportunities for them to attend special performances at UCLA or participate in arts-residency programs at their own schools and in the classroom. We also produce educational materials, links and resources to artists and arts information to help teachers expand upon and extend the impact of performance experiences and art-making activities.

DFS meets the National Arts Education Content Standards by providing instruction in multidisciplinary art forms, and by integrating arts activities into the school day.

Help us celebrate the 45th anniversary of Design for Sharing in the 2015-2016 season!

The anniversary of this incredible program means more than half a million Los Angeles elementary and high school students have experienced performances in Royce Hall, as well as hands-on workshops with professional artists and in-class arts programs.

You can help us celebrate and help keep adding to that number, by generously adding $4.50 to any CAP UCLA ticket purchase. There is an automatic online option to make this generous gift or you can add it to any phone order placed at the UCLA Central Ticket Office.

An average DFS Demonstration Performance in Royce Hall--where kids often take their first seats in a professional performance space, have their first interaction with professional artists and get their first glimpse at a college campus—costs on average $20 per student in attendance. Your $4.50 donation is a substantial contribution.

We’re proud to bring the arts to the youngest audiences of our community. It’s proven to be beneficial to their emotional and intellectual development and it’s a struggle for schools to provide these experiences.

A few dollars from you goes a long way to easing that struggle and making some magic happen for kids.

Your contribution directly supports Design for Sharing’s free performances, workshops, and hands-on arts activities for 15,000 public school students each year. 100% of your contribution supports UCLA and its art-education program. Your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law.
