The Fifth Creative Coding Labs event is underway in a campus residency presented by CAP UCLA, Motion Bank and the Design Media Arts program at UCLA.
Join the participants of the Fifth Creative Coding Labs for a casual final-day presentation and gathering. They will talk about the ideas they explored together after a week of free-form collaboration and incubation.
The Choreographic Coding Labs (CCL) are an international series of events offering digital media ‘code savvy’ artists the opportunity to translate aspects of choreography and dance into digital form and apply choreographic thinking to their own practice. The results of the series so far range from prototypes for artworks to new tools and plug-ins for working with dance-related datasets. For five days on campus, local dancers, choreographers, coders and designers will intersect with Motion Bank researchers.
Where: Experimental Digital Arts Space—first floor of the Eli and Edythe Broad Arts Center, UCLA
Members of the campus community and public are also invited to observe the Labs in process in the same location throughout the week Tues-Fri from 10am-5pm.
The Coding Labs are an outcome of the first phase of Motion Bank, a four-year research project of The Forsythe Company focused on the creation of on line digital scores with guest choreographers.
Support for CCL comes from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, CreativeApplications.net and NODE - Forum for Digital Arts, Processing Foundation.
