"…an endearing tale of undaunted cyber-love, and its technical intricacy is a delight." -- The Australian
Montreal-based scratch DJ and music producer Kid Koala presents a magical, multi-disciplinary adaptation of his graphic novel Nufonia Must Fall. The story centers around a headphones-sporting robot on the verge of obsolescence and infatuated with a winsome office drone.
Directed by K.K. Barrett, recently Oscar-nominated for Spike Jonze’s Her, this live adaptation of the graphic novel unfolds via the real-time filming of more than a dozen intricately-crafted miniature stage settings in which a cast of puppets interact. Kid Koala and the dynamic Afiara Quartet provide live scoring on piano, strings and turntables, tugging on heartstrings and moving the story forward.
Through the performance work’s uniquely designed production in front of an audience, and its heartwarming film noir love story, Kid Koala’s Nufonia Must Fall is an unforgettable contemporary performance experience.
