With their genre-blending productions and sensational interpretations of modern classics, Sō Percussion has redefined the scope and role of the modern percussion ensemble. Employing a distinctively 21st century synthesis of original music, artistic collaboration, theatrical production values and visual art, they construct a powerful exploration of their own unique and personal creative experiences.
Their repertoire ranges from 20th century “classics” by such esteemed composers as John Cage, Steve Reich and Iannis Xenakis to new works by contemporary composers David Lang, Steve Mackey and Paul Lansky. They will be joined for their performance at Royce Hall with world-renowned soprano Dawn Upshaw, pianist Gilbert Kalish and the multitalented vocalist Shara Nova.
