Announcing CAP UCLA's 2024-25 Season!
We are very excited to announce the inaugural season under the leadership of CAP UCLA’s Executive and Artistic Director Edgar Miramontes. Featuring over 80 visionary artists representing over 10 countries, the 2024-25 season unites the global and local, reflecting our common humanity and embracing cultural inclusivity.
We hope you’ll join us at Royce Hall, The United Theater on Broadway, Freud Playhouse, UCLA Little Theater, Glorya Kaufman and our new venue, the UCLA Nimoy Theater!
Highlights include:
- Dancer and choreographer Gregory Maqoma’s Cion: Requiem of Ravel’s Boléro, an exploration of greed, power, and grief in post-apartheid South Africa.
- Collaborative theater collective Piehole invites us to “fix” our relationship with Iran while surrendering to an Agatha Christie-esque murder mystery dinner party in Disclaimer.
- Acclaimed theater ensemble Elevator Repair Service tackles James Joyce’s Ulysses with a production that spirals into chaos with pints, brawls, and debauchery, offering a madcap, fast-paced tour of Joyce's styles complemented by a richly layered sound design.
- Shamel Pitts BLACK HOLE, an Afrofuturism-inspired performance, fuses dance, sound and visuals to celebrate empowerment, unity and transformation.
- Grammy Award-winning Chicano rock ensemble Quetzal, including MacArthur Genius Martha Gonzalez, performs songs rooted in barrio life, social activism, and feminism.
