Come together for “Still/Here”
Thirty years after its groundbreaking premiere, CAP UCLA is honored to present Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company’s Still/Here — a towering achievement of American dance theater that continues to move, challenge and inspire.
At the heart of the piece is the "Survival Workshops" conducted across the country with real people living with life-threatening illness. The participants’ were asking to share what they loved, what they feared and what they wanted, and their words and gestures inspired the sweeping multimedia tapestry of movement, music and imagery in Still/Here. What emerged in a moment of crisis has endured as a testament to resilience, artistry and the power of community. As vital today as ever, Still/Here evokes the spirit of survival.
To mark the occasion, we have a range of pre- and post-performance activities designed to deepen the experience.
Join us before and after the performance for a live set by DJ Narasimha, art making activities, films, poetry, spoken word and more. Activities begin at 6:30 pm, dancing and music will continue after the performance.
Come and experience firsthand why Still/Here remains one of the most important works in American dance.
