Tiago Rodrigues on stage with audience members for "By Heart"

The world we’re building on our stages

As I reflect on this season so far, I’m struck by how clearly it expresses who we are becoming as an organization: a home for bold voices, boundary-stretching ideas and artists whose lived experiences expand our collective imagination. We’ve centered creators who invite audiences to witness work that reshapes how we see one another — and ourselves.

What moves me most is watching new audiences encounter this work for the first time. You can sense their excitement as they step into the theater and you can feel the shift as they sit with stories that reflect cultures, identities and ways of being that mirror their own hopes or challenge their assumptions. These performances invite them into a larger conversation about possibility.

When I think about the legacy of this season, I hope our donors will feel they helped usher in a new chapter of radical inclusion — one that ensures experimentation, representation and cultural vibrancy thrive on our stages.

But this vision is delicate. Without the philanthropic partnership of our community, we risk losing the momentum that allows us to support ambitious projects and the artists who make them. Many of the moments that have defined this season — from new commissions to student matinees — could not exist without donor support.

As the year draws to a close, I invite you to stand with us. Your generosity keeps these worlds alive.

With gratitude,
