Schooled in the music conservatories of Havana, Cuban-born pianist Alfredo Rodriguez’s riveting artistry is informed by the greats of classical music and by his Cuban and jazz roots.
Rodriguez left Cuba for the United States, crossing the border from Mexico with nothing but his suitcase and the clothes on his back. In California, he reconnected with producer and songwriter Quincy Jones (whom he had met at a European jazz festival) and began to re-establish his musical career. Since then, Rodriguez has appeared on prestigious stages around the world, and earned a Grammy Award nomination.
Rodriguez has distinguished himself as the definition of a jazz improviser without boundaries.
