“Mr. Sánchez is one of the standout drummers on the contemporary scene, a polyrhythmic ace attuned to the subtlest dynamic fluctuations.”
– The New York Times
Multiple Grammy Award winner Antonio Sánchez is one of the most sought-after and admired drummers of his generation. He is known as a “drummer’s drummer,” a title earned from his longtime association with Pat Metheny, along with stints with jazz legends Chick Corea and Michael Brecker, among others. A recipient of numerous accolades, Sánchez is internationally celebrated for his soundtrack to the Academy Award-winning film Birdman.
Antonio Sánchez returns to the Royce Hall stage with songs from his new Warner Brothers album SHIFT (Bad Hombre Vol. 2) which features collaborations with Trent Reznor, Kimbra, Meshell Ndegeocello, Dave Matthews and more. Recent recordings include Meridian Suite, a sociopolitical exploration featuring drums and electronica and Lines in the Sand, in which Sánchez further focuses socio-political angst into a moving tribute to every immigrant’s journey.
