Time and distance collapse in the music of Catalan vocal duo Tarta Relena. With little more than their voices, Marta Torrella and Helena Ros revisit and interpret the far corners of Mediterranean musical traditions dating back centuries. 

Embracing the perspective that folklore is living and ever-changing, Tarta Relena weaves the ancient and the original. Creating complex harmonies with the distinct tones of two different voices, and blending in subtle electronic effects and rhythms, these artists create maximum expression with minimal elements.

Like all DFS programs, this hour-long student matinee performance is free to any Los Angeles area public school, though we do ask that schools make their own transportation arrangements.  If that means you might not be able to attend, let us know.  We may be able to help.  Our Perloff Memorial Bus Fund provides support for bus transportation.
