Third Coast Percussion
School Matinee Performance
Grades 3-5
10 am and 11:45 am
For twenty years, Third Coast Percussion has forged a unique path in the musical landscape with energetic performances that celebrate the extraordinary depth and breadth of musical possibilities in the world of percussion. The ensemble has been praised for “commandingly elegant” (New York Times) performances, the “rare power” (Washington Post) of their recordings, and “an inspirational sense of fun and curiosity” (Minnesota Star-Tribune).
The members of TCP are also accomplished teachers, on a mission to inspire and educate through exciting and unexpected musical experiences.
These hour-long matinee performances, designed for upper elementary students, explore the extraordinary range of percussion instruments that can be found in cultures around the world and in our own kitchen cabinets.
Like all DFS programs, this event is free to any Los Angeles area public school, though we do ask that schools make their own transportation arrangements. If that means you might not be able to attend, let us know. We may be able to help. Our Perloff Memorial Bus Fund provides support for bus transportation.
We often have more demand than we can accommodate; requests are filled on a first-come basis. Contact us at dfs@cap.ucla.edu for more information.
