New Standards

“Carrington [has] phenomenal expertise and versatility as a drummer and composer, as well as [the] ability to lead and accentuate the talent she surrounds herself with” — NPR

Called a “true titan of jazz” (Forbes), Terri Lyne Carrington is an NEA Jazz Master and three-time Grammy Award-winning drummer, producer, and educator. Beginning her remarkable professional career at 10 years old in Boston, she has been driven by her phenomenal musicality and her passion for inclusivity and elevating the voices of women, trans, and non-binary people in jazz.

Her latest project, New Standards shines a light on women composers with an all-star band and a dazzling line-up of special guests, including Ambrose Akinmusire, Ravi Coltrane, Dianne Reeves and more. With selections from the songbook ranging from ballads to experimental compositions, this new project explores the expansive universe of jazz.
